Overland Park, KS (May 11, 2012) –The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP),, has granted initial accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation to 29 colleges and universities in four countries this spring. Among the 29 is the Institute of Finance and Economics (IFE) in Mongolia, the first in their country to achieve specialized accreditation for their business programs. The number of accredited schools in India continues to grow as well with five universities achieving accreditation this year.

The ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners and Associate Degree Board of Commissioners meet twice a year in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, to review the quality and integrity of business degree programs at colleges and universities seeking ACBSP accreditation.

In April, the two Boards granted initial accreditation to the business programs at:

Colleges and universities initially accredited by ACBSP must undergo a process of reaffirmation every 10 years in order to maintain accredited status. The two Boards granted reaffirmation of accreditation to:

• Ashland University — Ashland, Ohio

• City Colleges of Chicago Harold Washington College — Chicago, Illinois

• City College of Chicago Wilbur Wright College — Chicago, Illinois

In addition to successfully completing the accreditation or reaffirmation process, three schools also achieved separate accreditation of the accounting degree program. Maryville University (Mo.), Peirce College (Pa.) and University of Phoenix (Headquartered in Arizona with more than 90 campuses) were awarded this distinction, bringing the total to seven schools that hold separate accreditation in accounting. LaGrange College was the first to achieve separate accounting accreditation from ACBSP in 2010.

"These campuses have shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process. The initial accreditation and reaffirmation of accreditation granted to these institutions shows their commitment to provide the highest quality business education for their students," said Steve Parscale, ACBSP director of accreditation."

ACBSP accredits business, accounting, and business-related programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master, and doctorate degree levels worldwide.

ACBSP’s mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognize excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world. Individual members on these campuses now exceed 9,700.
