Maryland and Baltimore in the Global Economy is the Subject of a Thought Leader Session at the 2012 ACBSP Annual Conference This Weekend

Overland Park, KS (June 12, 2012) –The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP),, will hold its 2012 Annual Conference June 15-18 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Md.

A Thought Leader Session on Sunday will address how the state of Maryland is coping with the uncertainties of this global economy and look at how the city of Baltimore has been impacted. Nina Bankova, director of International Visitors and Clients Services for the World Trade Center Institute; Aris Melissaratos, senior advisor to the president for Enterprise Development at Johns Hopkins University; and Rex Bishop, professor of business and economics at the College of Southern Maryland, comprise the panel.(Dover A-C from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.)

Yves Leterme, former prime minister of Belgium and recently appointed deputy secretary general for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.(Keynote – Sat., June 16 -12:30 p.m. — 2:00 p.m. — Grand Ballroom 5 & 6),and

Kay Saunders, founder and CEO of Bellewether, Ltd., an organization consultancy, and CEO of its subsidiary, The Human Asset Imaging® Institute which focuses on the people side of productivity.(Keynote – Fri., June 15 - 12:00 p.m. — 1:30 p.m. — Grand Ballroom 7).

More than 820 educational leaders and business faculty from colleges and universities around the world are registered to attend the conference, including 148 members from outside the United States.


ACBSP’s mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognize excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world. ACBSP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as a specialized accreditation agency for business education. ACBSP currently has 1,100 member campuses, 157 of which are located outside of the U.S. Of those campuses, 541 have achieved accreditation and more than 415 are in candidacy for accreditation. Individual members on these campuses now exceed 9,700.
