ACBSP Joins Valencia College in Support of The Community College Conference on Learning Assessment

ACBSP Joins Valencia College as a Cooperating Organization in Support of The Community College Conference on Learning Assessment

As a Cooperating Organization, ACBSP fully supports Valencia College in offering this conference, aimed at providing participants with theoretical and practical support for developing and implementing learning assessment activities that take into account the lived experience in today’s community and technical colleges.

OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (November 19, 2012)The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has joined Valencia College as a Cooperating Organization in support of The Community College Conference on Learning Assessment. The Conference will take place Feb. 17-19, 2013, in Orlando, Florida.

Colleagues responsible for learning assessment, faculty development, student development, curriculum, institutional effectiveness and regional and program-specific accreditation wanting to learn about effectively meeting the learning assessment needs and challenges faced by faculty, staff and administrators in community and technical colleges are invited to attend.

In announcing this cooperation, Douglas Viehland, ACBSP Executive Director, stated: "The essential element of ACBSP accreditation is assessment of student learning.As the only accrediting body for business schools that offers accreditation of associate degree business programs, it is essential we participate in and promote attendance at conferences such as this one undertaken by Valencia College.”

As a Cooperating Organization, ACBSP will promote attendance by ACBSP members and prospective members, and participate in the Exhibitor Showcase. Viehland will also present a concurrent session titled, "Outcomes Assessment and Specialized Accreditation.”

The design of the conference, as well as pre-and post-conference activities, are intended to encourage institutional teams to register for the conference with the expectation that they will leave witha refined focus and purposefor learning assessment at their institution.
