Dan Bothe Dean, Fermanian School of Business, Associate Professor of Finance Point Loma Nazarene University Daniel Bothe joined the Fermanian School of Business (FSB) as a full-time associate professor of finance in 2009. He came to PLNU with approximately 20 years of management consulting, accounting, and senior-level financial management experience. Specifically, he has served as the chief financial officer of several companies, has worked as a management consultant for Ernst & Young and Paloma Advisors, and has been an auditor at KPMG. During his time as a full-time professor, Bothe taught various finance and accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He became dean in August 2014 and now focuses most of his time on the growth and continuous improvement of the FSB, while still teaching one or two finance courses a year. Bothe is currently working on completing his dissertation in the doctoral program in business (finance) at Anderson University, and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) in the state of California.
Kim Hogelucht, Ph.D. Associate Dean of Undergraduate Business Education, Professor of Business Point Loma Nazarene University Dr. Kim Hogelucht began teaching in the Fermanian School of Business (FSB) in 1996 as an adjunct faculty member after earning her M.A. in speech communication from San Diego State University. She became a full-time faculty member in 2006 as an assistant professor of business, earned her Ph.D. in leadership studies and education sciences from the University of San Diego in 2011, and was promoted to professor of business in 2014. During her tenure at PLNU, Hogelucht has been actively involved in university-wide and FSB committees, in addition to teaching the FSB's upper-level administrative communication courses and directing business internships. She is currently the chair of the FSB Assessment Committee, where she successfully led the implementation of a new undergraduate assessment plan during the 2015 – 2016 academic year. In addition to her teaching and committee involvement, Hogelucht has continued her research in business internships and assessment practices, most recently winning best paper and best presentation awards at the ACBSP International Conferences in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Lauren Marshall Administrative Assistant to the Dean Point Loma Nazarene University Lauren Marshall joined PLNU as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Fermanian School of Business (FSB) in 2015 after graduating with a bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Georgia. During her time at PLNU, Marshall has successfully implemented a comprehensive assessment program for all FSB programs, led AMS software implementation, increased operational efficiencies through various process improvements and assisted in the completion of the FSB’s ACBSP self-study report. She has presented at various accreditation conferences on the FSB’s comprehensive assessment process, specifically highlighting strategies for and the importance of faculty engagement. Marshall is expected to complete her MBA with a concentration in Project Management in May 2020.
Jamie McIlwaine, DBA Associate Dean of Graduate Business Education, Professor of Business Point Loma Nazarene University Dr. Jamie McIlwaine came to PLNU in 2013 with a background in academia, professional communications, and marketing. She launched her professional career as a communications director for the Palm Beach Civic Association in 1993, became an accounting executive at A.E. Sloan & Associates in 1994, and the director of Corporate & Foundation Relations at Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2001. In 2002, McIlwaine began her career in academia as an assistant professor of marketing at Palm Beach Atlantic University. During her tenure at Palm Beach Atlantic University, she served in several leadership roles, including undergraduate chair, internship director, and member of the interim dean management team. In 2011, she became an associate professor of marketing at Anderson University in South Carolina, before coming to PLNU in 2013. During her time as associate dean of Graduate Business Education at PLNU, McIlwaine has led the growth of the M.B.A. program while also teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level marketing courses.
