Edinboro University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Hannan announced recently that Dr. Scott E. Miller has been named Dean of the university’s ACBSP-accredited School of Business after successfully serving for two years as Acting Dean.

“Scott has done a great job leading the School of Business as Acting Dean since July 2012,” Provost Hannan said in announcing the faculty-supported move to convert Miller to Dean. “He has championed the ACBSP accreditation process and is working with the department faculty to launch an international business concentration this coming year.”

Former Chair of the Department of Business and Economics, Dr. Miller also served as Edinboro’s Acting Director of Admissions for several months in 2014.

He was recognized in April by the American Association of University Administrators, which presented him with the Robert W. MacVittie Emerging Leader Award. Dr. Miller was nominated for the honor, which recognizes individuals with outstanding potential for higher education leadership, by Edinboro University President Julie E. Wollman.

An attorney and certified public accountant, Dr. Miller serves in many key roles in the Erie, Pa., community. He is board chair of the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority, president of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation, board member of Friends of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity.

Dr. Miller earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Anderson University, Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Gannon University.
