LSSU School of Business gains global accreditation

The Lukenda School of Business at Lake Superior State University has been granted initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a leading accreditation association in business education.
ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within LSSU’s School of Business meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP. The programs accredited are LSSU’s Bachelor of Science programs for accounting, business administration/entrepreneurship, business administration/international business, business administration/management, business administration/marketing, and finance and economics.
“Lake Superior State University has shown a commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Director of Accreditation Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Initial Accreditation at the ACBSP Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pa., on June 14. “This accreditation is evidence that LSSU is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”
“We are honored to receive initial accreditation from ACBSP and are grateful for the time and energy their team took in reviewing our programs,” said Dr. David Roland Finley, dean of the College of Business and Engineering. “This accreditation is the result of the exceptional dedication and hard work of the faculty and staff in the Lukenda School of Business.”
“This respected and significant accreditation is an external validation of the superior learning environment at LSSU,” added Mindy McCready, interim chair of the Lukenda School of Business who led the ACBSP effort. “ACBSP accreditation offers our business programs immediate recognition in the professional business community.”
ACBSP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as a specialized accreditation agency for business education. ACBSP currently has 1,171 member campuses, 183 of which are located outside of the U.S. Of those campuses, 603 have achieved accreditation and more than 200 are in candidacy for accreditation. Individual members on these campuses now exceed 9,900.
