ACBSP evaluator Alfred Miller, business faculty member and system representative with Higher Colleges of Technology-Fujairah Women’s College, recently traveled to Saudi Arabia for an accreditation site visit at Yanbu University College (YUC). Miller was there to evaluate the curriculum, program objectives and outcomes, and assessment procedures for the bachelor degree programs offered through the Management Science Department at YUC.
“Increasing the number of institutional and program accreditations is one of the core objectives of the Royal Commission Yanbu Colleges and Institutes (RCYCI),” said Mohammed Ashar Khan, head of the RCYCI Media Center, who produced a video describing the visit. “As part of the restructuring of the RCYCI sector, the Industrial Management Technology (IMT) Department at Yanbu Industrial College was merged with the Management Sciences (MS) Department at YUC,” said Khan. “The rationalle behind the imalgamation is to concentrate business programs at one campus [that will become] an RCYCI School of Business in the future," he said. All IMT Department programs have been accredited by ACBSP since 2004. “The IMT Department’s past experience in getting the accreditation and the diverse capabilities of the MS Department faculty helped a great deal in the preparation for seeking the ACBSP endorsement for the remaining program,” Khan said.
Miller said of the visit: "There are two site visits that I've been on that are at the top level of preparation and Yanbu is one of the two institutions."
