Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society established in 1913 to recognize students in accredited business schools for their high academic achievement in baccalaureate, masters and doctorate programs. Over its life span, Delta Mu Delta has grown its current membership to include more than 240 campuses worldwide. Delta Mu Delta has more than 160,000 members residing in 175+ countries. Through an agreement made in January 1992 between Delta Mu Delta and ACBSP, establishment of Delta Mu Delta chapters is now exclusively at colleges and universities with business programs which are accredited by ACBSP at the baccalaureate/graduate levels. Value for StudentsStudents are invited to a lifetime membership based on the following eligibility guidelines: must be in the top 20% of their respective class and be in good standing with their institution; undergraduates must have completed one-half of their course work and have a cumulative average grade of at least .25 above a "B"; graduate and doctorate students must have completed at least one-half the requirements for their degree with a cumulative average grade of at least .60 above a "B". Individual chapters may establish more stringent requirements. Those students who accept membership are publicly recognized by their chapters/institutions and are presented a certificate of membership and the key of Delta Mu Delta at a formal initiation ceremony. In addition to providing public recognition to business students who have distinguished themselves in their schools of business, Delta Mu Delta also annually awards scholarships and recognitions to members based on academic record and performance, demonstrated leadership and service, and character and ethical behavior. Through Knowledge, PowerThe Greek letters, DMD stands for Dia Matheseos Dynamis, signifying the motto of the Society, "Through Knowledge, Power." To be awarded the Delta Mu Delta Key should be the ambition of every person who pursues a degree in business where Delta Mu Delta membership is possible. Chapter Resource GuideThe ability to petition Delta Mu Delta for a chapter is one of the rewards of ACBSP accreditation and provides a means by which an institution may give lifetime international recognition to its outstanding graduates.
