European Office

European Office

Panos Kostakos, former Director of European Operations (2011-2013), on Building Trust & Ensuring High Quality Education.

ACBSP has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, much of which has been among campuses outside the United States. What began as an association with a membership comprised almost exclusively of U.S.-based colleges and universities has become, nearly 25 years later, an international association with member campuses in more than 50 countries.

In 2009, the Board of Directors and members of the International Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP Region 8) began talks to expand ACBSP’s global reach to current and prospective colleges and universities outside the U.S.

As a result of a two-year project, ACBSP secured an office in Brussels, Belgium, in November 2011. Establishing the European office addresses an ongoing commitment to members outside the United States to support their needs as members and to significantly increase the global presence of ACBSP.

"Our physical presence in Brussels will strengthen and deepen the institutional affiliations and visibility of ACBSP and its members in Europe. We have initiated contacts with government bodies and are pursuing cooperation with European organizations in the Higher Education, Education Management, Quality Assurance, and Management Development sectors,” said Panos Kostakos, Ph.D., former ACBSP Director of European Operations (2011-2013).

To promote ACBSP’s global presence and facilitate the harmonization of accreditation practices with the standards, criteria, values and norms found in countries from Region 8.

The European office was set to serve the strategic goals identified in the ACBSP comprehensive strategic plan. The following initiatives prevail as the main areas of activities:

  • Expand membership in Region 8 and establish new institutional ties.
  • Establish communication channels with the Quality Assurance Community in Europe.
  • Enhance the organization of the Region 8 membership network.
  • Support the organization of the International Conference.
