Basis for Decision/Program CommentsStrengths (7)Criterion 2.2 Current Strategic Plan The site visit team confirmed that the Business Unit has identified five objectives as described by the Self-Study. Categories: Approach, Deployment Verified: This Strength was verified on site.Summary of Standard 2 - Strategic Planning The Business Unit and the College have coordinated transparent processes, allowing input from multiple stakeholders, balancing the resources and the needs, in executing strategic objectives across different levels of the institution. Categories: Approach, Deployment, Results Verified: This Strength was verified on site.Criterion 3.2 Stakeholder Satisfaction Quick Connect Early Alert has been implemented to make contact with students who have missed classes and/or failed to turn in assignments in an effort to improve retention rates. Categories: Approach, DeploymentCriterion 4.1 Student Learning Outcomes Assessment The Business Unit Student Learning Outcomes Assessment process is well-developed and complete. The performance measures for each assessment are identified and analyzed to help close the loop by offering actions for improvement. Graphs are provided to show results and trends - solidifying their efforts to see continuous improvement. Categories: Approach, Results Verified: This Strength was verified on site.Criterion 5.6 Faculty Evaluation The Site Visit team confirmed, and the Self-Study report validated, that the Business Unit maintains a formal evaluation system as part of the Promotion and Tenure (P&T) process with feedback provided to faculty at each stage of the P&T process to provide career, professional, and personal growth. Categories: Approach, Deployment, Results Verified: This Strength was verified on site.Criterion 6.1 Curriculum The Site Visit team verified an excellent example of best-in-class that within the College and in the Business Unit key processes exist for the development of courses, curricula, delivery methods, and assessment strategies based on student and stakeholder needs. Additionally, participative procedures aligned with the institution’s strategic and operating plans, accreditation standards, and certification requirements are present. Categories: Approach, Deployment, Results Verified: This Strength was verified on site.SELF-STUDY SUMMARY The Self-Study was well prepared and presented. The Business Unit faculty, staff, and administrators should be commended. Categories: Approach, ResultsOpportunities for Improvement (OFI) (4)Summary of Standard 4 - Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management Developing an effective process for tracking post-graduation employment and benchmarking the employment results with the national averages enables the Business Unit and the College to determine required programmatic changes. Categories: Approach, Improvements The Site Visit team could not verify any institutional prior learning assessment processes for adults with prior relevant experiences or military credit provided through ACE. Institutionalizing prior learning assessment and credit for ACE credit enables the business unit and the institution to serve its adult and veterans populations more effectively. Categories: Approach, Improvements Verified: This OFI was verified on site.Criterion 6.10 Articulation and Transfer Relationships It is understood that most students transfer to NMSU, but there is an opportunity for additional articulation agreements with private and other non-NMSU universities. Institutions are encouraged to implement articulation agreements whereby associate degree graduates can obtain junior status and the equivalent of two years' credit toward specified baccalaureate degrees. Categories: Approach, Improvements It was mentioned in a faculty meeting that there is an opportunity in advising that students should be made more aware that an associate degree in a discipline is a viable option for them. It seems as though many students are being encouraged to pursue the "Pre-Business" path, which may not always be the best path for every student. Categories: Improvements© 2020 ACBSP.
